HOW CAN A 36000 BTU OUTDOOR UNIT have FOUR 12000 btu indoor units? (A total of 48000 btu)
Inverter Technology can help blow 12000 btu into ALL indoor units by varying its speed on indoor units using alternating distribution method. For example it will throw 8000 btu in room A, B and room C for 5 minutes and 12000 btu in room D for 5 minutes and then 8000 btu in room B, C and room D for 5 minutes and 12000 btu in room A for 5 minutes. So this way ALL FOUR rooms will get max upto 12000 btu's when hot and zero to 8000 btu when cold, thereby distributing BTU’s cleverly. This not only saves your electricity bills but also does not make your rooms too cold likes some of the standard units do.

LG is the only brand so far, where you can mix and match any combination of indoor units with outdoor unit.

This means if you want a standard unit in the bedroom and a mirror panel in the living room, now it is possible to do the same. You can also combine it with ceiling cassette units. So if you need a standard unit in one room, but have no space on the wall and want a ceiling cassette in another room, plus you need a mirror panel in the third room, you can now mix them up as per your requirement.

With LG you have a unique option to mix & match any combination as per your requirement. You can mix the indoor units together by buying one standard unit & one ART Cool Mirror panel unit or even one ceiling cassette if you would like. For federal tax credits, only above TWO outdoor units qualify with the combinations shown next to them. Any indoor unit of that size would qualify as long as the outdoor unit has that combination. For example, if you have two bedrooms & you need one 9000 btu in one bedroom & one 12000 btu in other bedroom, you can buy ONE dual zone outdoor unit from above (LMU185HV) and then any of the one 9000 btu & 12000 btu from below options. But if you had one bedroom that needs 9000 btu and a living room that needs an 18000 btu, in that case you will need to buy LMU245HV and connect it with any of the below 9000 btu and 18000 btu instead. It will not qualify for tax credits, but the combination would work perfect for your rooms.
